Metal stamping

What is metal stamping and how does it work

Metal stamping (sheet stamping) is a technology of sheet metal forming using a progressive tool positioned on eccentric presses powered by a force of 25 - 400 t or on TPO automatic presses (with horizontal slides). Through this technology we can fabricate a shape-complicated product from an input material – a metal sheet coil - by sequential cutting/punching, bending and forming operations in one tool. 

Presses are serviced with feeding lines with decoiling and straightening, therefore this technology is advisable particularly for series production. Our typical products manufactured using the metal stamping technology are e.g. sockets, brackets, connectors, shelf brackets or apertures.

 

Advantages of the sheet stamping technology

• Suitable for large-lot production, but applicable also for medium or smaller series,
• Possibility of the manufacture of complex stamped components,
• Repeatability of the manufacture,
• Possibility to assembly fasteners onto a stamped part (for example weld, rivet and press nuts) during the stamping process – this is suitable for mass production.

Key features of Lakum stamping shop

We offer realization of your ideas according to your drawing documentation. As we in Lakum have been dealing with this technology for almost 20 years, we are able to detect possible risks in advance and point them out in a demand procedure, thus avoiding financial and time losses in the course of the project.

We have experience in processing of various types of metal materials: steel sheets, metal coated – galvanized sheets, stainless sheets, aluminum sheets or copper alloy sheets (brass, bronze).

We use stamping to process metal sheet in width to 300 mm, up to 600 mm on 400 t press, and in thickness from 0.4 mm to 3.0 mm.

Regarding other manufacturing possibilities in Lakum, our advantage is a possibility of prototype parts fabrication, assembling through spot welding, gas-shielded welding, riveting, bolting…

We are also capable to solve transfer of manufacture from existing manufacturers operatively.

Stamping      Stamping

Most of our presses are fitted with coil processing lines. These lines typically include decoiling, straightening and feeding equipment. Thanks to that we can also stamp large-scale series, where price and quality play a major role.

We are ready to cooperate as early as in a prototyping phase. As needed, we can make a prototype or 3D template, consult possible modifications of this prototype including a subsequent realization of the change and continue in preparation of a series production.

We have a 3D measuring system available. This enables measurement of parts that are dimensioned both using basic dimensional tolerances and also complicated geometrical tolerances with accuracy in the order of magnitude of thousandths of millimeters.

Of course, we offer a possibility of surface treatment by cataphoretic painting, powder painting, zinc plating and their combination. If needed, we can also provide additional surface treatment via cooperative effort (Cr, Ni, Sn). We also perform assembly  of all parts. Our own maintenance of tools enables us to maintain tools in a perfect condition.
